WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki (pronounced Ray – Key) is a natural healing technique developed in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. Dr Usui developed this healing technique from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and meditation. He spent the rest of his life practicing and teaching Reiki.
The word Reiki means Universal Life Energy. It increases the flow of energy in the body to reduce stress, relieve pain and promote the body's capacity to heal itself and recover from illness and injury. Reiki is an incredibly relaxing and gentle treatment with the potential for very powerful results.
A REIKI TREATMENT
A Reiki treatment is gentle and non-invasive. The recipient lies on a treatment couch fully clothed and relaxes. If you are unable to lie comfortably the treatment can be given in a sitting position, comfort is most important.
The practitioner’s hands are lightly placed on or just above the main energy centres in the body (Chakras) or where there may be a specific health problem. Reiki is non-manipulative and at no time is any pressure applied. It treats the whole person nourishing mind, body and spirit, restoring balance and bringing a sense of calm, clarity and well-being. Everyone’s experience of Reiki is unique.
